Launch of Broken Madonna

Broken Madonna launched at the Duke of Yorks Cinema, Brighton to an audience of 150 people.

  • Anna Lucia was interviewed by fellow author Beth Miller and their conversation spanned the inspiration behind Broken Madonna, growing up in England as a child of Italian immigrants, the influence of the Catholic Church, how her working life fed into writing and her cast for the dreamed of film version of Broken Madonna.

  • In a lively audience Q&A, Anna was asked about her writing process, creating characters, making friends with her Italian heritage and forthcoming projects.

  • The Q&A was followed by Anna's favourite film, Cinema Paradiso, the Oscar winning Italian film set in the same period as Broken Madonna which shares themes of those who stay, and those who leave, the search for belonging and lasting emotional bonds forged in childhood.
